Whitewater Debuts New Experiences in November

The Whitewater Center will debut several new activities and programs for this season. Two suspension bridges spanning the canyon will connect to a new activity area. A “Lights” program will also be integrated into the bridges and surrounding forest featuring over 50 illuminated installations. Winter programming will also add outdoor hockey, culinary events, year-round yoga, and more races and competitions.

The new suspension bridges are over 600 feet in length and rise over 60 feet above the canyon below. The bridges offer access to a whole new area of activity at the Whitewater Center which will continue to grow throughout the coming year featuring some of the Center’s most compelling new zip lines and continuous belay courses. The bridges are free to the public and the zip lines and courses are a part of the Whitewater pass program.

Whitewater is also bringing back the Lights program, featuring an entirely new set of illuminated installations along a half mile walking trail. The experience will feature illustrations used in Whitewater’s events and programs to create a sensory experience in the forest each night. “Lights” will be available in the evenings from mid-November through mid-February and is free and open to all ages.

Ice skating returns this winter and is highlighted by a new outdoor Pond Hockey league beginning in January. The league follows a 3 vs. 3 format with a regular season competition and playoff structure. League registration is now open and available online. Several culinary events will return to the calendar as well, including the all-new Balanced Brunch, featuring a morning yoga practice followed by dining at the Trail Center. Whitewater’s daily yoga series will also be extended beyond September for the first time; daily classes now take place year-round at the South Ridge complex.

The fall and winter months also feature a number of events and competitions, including We Believe – Santa 5k and Dog Jog, New Year’s Eve 5k and 10k, A Snowball’s Chance - Short Track Skate Race, Frigid 5k and 10k Trail Race and Plunge, and the Dog Days of Winter festival. Numerous culinary events are available through the winter as well, including Zipline & Dine and Skate & Date.

“Whitewater is pleased to announce a number of new experiences in 2022, including the suspension bridges, hockey league, adventure dining series, and the reimagined “Lights” trail,” said Jesse Hyde, Brand Director of Whitewater. “The team has been working hard to create new forms of engagement at the Center for the upcoming season and beyond. We are excited to show the public new ways to come together and play outside.”
