Kyle Fletcher's

in Lowell

Kyle Fletcher's, a cherished BBQ spot in Gaston County, was founded by brother-in-law Kyle Fletcher and Steve Deaton. Faced with the economic challenges brought on by the signing of NAFTA and the subsequent closure of local textile mills, the two decided to take a leap of faith and turn Kyle's backyard BBQ catering and benefit events into a thriving business. Today, Kyle Fletcher's is a staple in Lowell, NC, known for its delicious BBQ and southern hospitality. While Kyle retired, his wife and daughter have stepped in to help run the restaurant, and Steven Deaton can still be found out back, cooking up a storm of smoke. It's a real family business, embodying the belief that owning a small business, becomes a part of you, and you cherish it deeply.

Carolina Style Cheeseburger

Kyle Fletcher's offers two sizes of burgers, along with two double sizes, but trust me, if you order anything larger than the small, you better come hungry. The locals' favorite is topping their burger "all the way," which means a southern tradition, "Carolina Style," homemade slaw (available in both regular and BBQ varieties), homemade chili, chopped onions, and mustard. Steve says, "It's not the burger that makes it great; it's what you put on it that makes it great."

Half Rack Ribs

While Kyle Fletcher's is famous for their minced BBQ, the menu offers a wide variety of delicious options. Steve recommended we try the ribs, and they did not disappoint. Smoked to perfection with the rich flavors of hickory wood and charcoal, each bite of ribs is mouthwatering. Kyle Fletcher's makes its hot vinegar-based sauce, which is my favorite and also offers classic tomato-based, and a sweet bbq sauce.

Kyle Fletcher's Bologna sandwich all the way.

Steve also recommended the fried bologna sandwich. We tried it "Carolina style," and it was delicious. We highly recommend it! It comes on a hamburger bun with a half-inch slice of delicious bologna, offering a hearty and flavorful bite.

Onion Rings

Kyle Fletcher's hand-breaded and freshly sliced onion rings are a local favorite and widely regarded as the best in town. These crispy, golden delights offer the perfect balance of crunch and flavor, making them an irresistible side dish for any meal. Once you try them, you'll understand why they're a beloved staple among regulars and newcomers.

Best of Gaston

They have been voted Gaston Best several times throughout the years, and they have been named to have the best catering, BBQ, burger, and sweet tea.

Experience True Carolina Charm at Kyle Fletcher's BBQ

From the building's exterior to the glass showcase at the checkout counter, the walls at Kyle Fletcher's are adorned in Carolina blue. While you might spot a few nods to other sports teams, you'll leave feeling like a true Carolina fan. The Southern hospitality of the Fletcher's and Deaton's, along with their employees who are part of their family, adds a welcoming touch to this family-owned and operated business. It's a must-visit when in Gaston County.

"If you go to a BBQ place and don't see smoke, you're not at a real BBQ place!" Steve Deaton
