Get outside and explore

With the help of the Carolina Thread Trail, Gaston County offers more than 25 miles of trails incorporating sidewalks, natural-surface and paved, giving our visitors a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy nature.

Our crowning jewel, Crowders Mountain presents the most spectacular views with a carpet of fall colors including raw sienna and burnt umber, from the summit of its sheer rock cliffs. Other impressive hikes around the county are George Poston Park, Duke Kimbrell Trail, Tuckaseege Park, and the South Fork Rail Trail.

Fall Fest Gather up the family, grab some popcorn, and butter up because you’re in for a show! The Stowe Family YMCA invites you to our “LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION!” Fall Festival 2022 where we will get into character for an action-packed night of family fun.


Wagon rides and pumpkins With fall comes wagon rides, pumpkins, gourds, and squash to Lineberger's Farm. Family Fun amps up to include a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch after a scenic wagon ride around the farm. Fall decor is abundant as we have family-grown corn stalks, decorative corn on the cob, pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, and interesting gourds.


Fall on the Farm Lewis Farm opens up for fun-filled family days at the farm every weekend in October.

This year's Fall On The Farm include wagon rides, a fun maze, hay bale ground and slide, barnyard animals and sheep herding and blacksmith demonstrations.


Pumpkin Paddle

Join us on our Pumpkin Paddle at Goat Island Park in Cramerton. This free, bring your own boat event is open to paddlers of any experience level. Dress up to celebrate Halloween! Who knows.... the best costume may be rewarded.

Cramerton Turkey Shoot

Calling all sharpshooters! Come hangout with us on Goat Island on November 5th for a chance to win a Thanksgiving Turkey at the Turkey Shoot! We will have turkey targets setup on the island and all you have to do is hit the bulls-eye and you win a turkey.

Turkey Trek Enjoy an autumn afternoon learning about one important bird! Play turkey-themed games and make a craft while you learn the fascinating natural history of the Eastern Wild Turkey. You'll also meet a live turkey. Turkey Trek at Schiele Museum is designed for young children and their families.



Meet us in our colorful downtowns

Each of our downtowns offer a charm that exudes the festive, fall spirit with shopping, dining, and entertainment. Look for Halloween inspired events like the Treat Walk in Lowell, Truck or Treat in Bessemer City, Great Pumpkin Parade and The Wonderful Adventure to Oz in Kings Mountain, Cherryville's Monster March, Boofest and Movies in the Park in Belmont, and more.


Early Holiday Shopping

Dig into your holiday shopping while enjoying your trip to Gaston County. On Saturday November 12th, South Fork Village in Belmont will host its Harvest Market. Then, on November 26th there will be three shopping markets in downtown Mount Holly, Cherryville and Belmont.


Sip locally made craft beverages

The Ridgeline Craft Beverage Trail features breweries, a rum distillery and wineries extending beyond the boundaries of Gaston County. Each venue has a unique feel and would make a great addition to any of our fall events.
