Winter at Whitewater Center

Ice Skating Winter at Whitewater Center in Gaston County

Ice Skating

Opens November 17th, 2023

From November 17 onwards, the ice comes alive with over 24,000 sq. ft. of frozen excitement. Glide through four distinct skating areas, including two ice trails and free skate zones. When you need a break, the on-ice Airstream awaits, serving steaming beverages to keep you warm. Skate rentals are included, or bring your own. Grab your Ice Skating Pass today!


Canyon Night Trail

Opens November 17th, 2023

For a thrilling nocturnal experience, explore the Canyon Night Trail, illuminated for your enjoyment. Traverse wooded canyons on suspension bridges, ziplines, and rope bridges. The adventure doesn't stop there; the Canyon Night Trail beckons with obstacles, play structures, and discoveries for all ages.


NEW!!! Suspension Bridges

If heights and challenges are up your alley, step onto the Suspension Bridges—a new addition spanning 700 ft. across the canyon at heights reaching 80 ft. Feel the adrenaline as you access the North and South Rim ziplines under the captivating winter night sky.


The adventure continues for all ages with a range of courses. From the beginner-friendly Adventure Course to the physically demanding Canyon Spur, each platform, obstacle, and cargo net feature adds a layer of excitement. Choose your journey with Ridge Traverse, or embrace the thrill of the River Course above the rapids. For the little ones, the Ridge Low Ropes Challenge offers a beginner's course with engaging elements.


High Country Christmas Trees

Opens November 23rd, 2023

Embark on a new tradition with High Country Christmas Trees by selecting your Christmas Tree at the Whitewater Center thsis year. Sourced from the Blue Ridge highlands, Fraser fir trees, native to the higher elevations around Whitetop Mountain, Mount Rogers, and Whitewater Grayson, will be available starting November 23. Complete your holiday decor with wreaths and additional seasonal goods.


Adult Pond Hockey

Join the Whitewater 3 vs. 3 Adult Pond Hockey League for those seeking competitive ice-bound action. Whether you're in it for the fun or aiming for the top, the league starts the week of December 4, concluding in mid-February with playoffs to crown the champions. Registration is open until November 20 for free agents and November 29 for teams. Participants must be 18 years or older.


Winter Races

Layer up for a frosty lineup of Whitewater Race Series competitions and events, including a Shot in the Dark night trail race (5K/10K), We Believe 5K and Dog Jog, the New Year's Eve Trail Race (5K/5 Mile).
