Chuck Johnson hits a hole in one
Pro golfer returns home to teach the sport he loves
Chuck Johnson just may be Gaston County’s answer to Jack Nicklaus.
We recently caught up with Johnson, 58, a professional golfer who much admires the Golden Bear. After some 30 years abroad, Johnson, who grew up in Dallas, has come back home in order to share his passion for golf with others and to inspire in them the same love of the game. Johnson and wife Carol run the Chuck Johnson Golf Academy near Mount Holly: a local version of a business they first began in South Africa and then continued in Austria some years ago. They’re busy these days honing the skills of others who enjoy the sport of kings.
