The Phillips Community Center
in Gastonia
The Phillips Community Center is located on 36-acres in the southern sector of the City. Erected in 1966, this Community Center was named for former Mayor Vic Phillips who was instrumental in promoting recreation for the citizens of Gastonia. The building houses a full-size gymnasium, game room, kitchen and staff office. The outdoor amenities include a lighted multipurpose athletic field, three small practice fields, a walking track, four lighted tennis courts, two lighted sand volleyball courts, two Bocce courts, playground, and a large picnic shelter.
Drills and Skills Basketball is being offered five days per week in a small group setting.
Lighted outdoor facilities operate independently when scheduled. Picnic shelters, ball fields and community centers may be rented by families, churches, companies or other groups for a variety of social and business functions.
