South Fork River Park
by Gaston County Parks and Recreation
South Fork River Park, maintained by Gaston County Parks and Recreation, is located on Mountain View Street north of McAdenville, and I-85, in Gaston County. This park offers a paved parking lot, one port potty at the entrance, and a one mile trail, available for walking and running that forms a crazy 8. The trail is wide and mostly flat with a short decent down to the river where visitors will have access to 800 feet of river frontage along the South Fork River with access for paddling, fishing, and picnicking.
Keep in mind it is a half mile hike with a hill to the put-in for paddling. Paddlers can paddle down stream from the launch along the banks and will quickly navigate two of the most challenging sections of whitewater between the park and McAdenville.
The park is open daily, 7 am – 9 pm.
