Preservation Celebration Fundraiser at Historic Dallas Jail Honoring the Work of Blair & Victoria Propert

 

GASTON COUNTY – Preservation North Carolina cordially invites you to a Preservation Celebration at the Historic Dallas Jail  in honor of the rehabilitation work undertaken by owners Blair and Victoria Propert. 

 

In 2020, The Gaston County Museum of Art and History, Inc. approached Preservation North Carolina to find a new owner for the Old Dallas Jail, and ensure it remained an integral part of the historic Dallas Court square. Blair and Victoria purchased the property in February of 2022, and after eighteen months of planning and renovation, reopened the Historic Dallas Jail as a premier event space in the heart of Gaston County open for weddings, rehearsal dinners, and celebrations of any kind – protected by covenants held by Preservation North Carolina.

 

Originally built in 1848 to serve as the county jail, the Old Dallas Jail was later repurposed as a restaurant, steak house, Tack and Feed store, a bar and civic club before closing its doors. After Blair and Victoria purchased the property, veteran architect Bob Smith of Talley & Smith Architecture, Inc. was brought in to develop plans that would bring the building up to code while maintaining as much of the original structure as possible. Pinnix General Contractors joined the restoration team and completed major structural repairs to the building, as well as adding all new plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and rebuilding the front porch, breathing new life into the building while maintaining its historic integrity.

 

Join us as we celebrate Blair and Victoria’s remarkable preservation accomplishments over light refreshments at this special fundraising event. In addition to the jail itself, the nearby church, courthouse, and county museum will be open to attendees, with a special appearance by Mayor of Dallas Hayley Beaty.
